Put a frog in hot water; it will jump right out. Start it in a body of water that\u2019s cooler; it will soothe itself and stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As condensed by Lessons4Living.com\u2026 [all emphasis mine]\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cPut a pot of cool water on the stove and then add the frog. <\/em><strong><em>Not sensing danger<\/em><\/strong><em> the frog will stay. Next, turn the burner on low to slowly heat the water. As the water warms, the frog<\/em><strong><em> relaxes.<\/em><\/strong><em> The warmth<\/em><strong><em> feels good.<\/em><\/strong><em> As the water gets hotter it acts like a steam bath <\/em><strong><em>draining away energy<\/em><\/strong><em> and deepening the frog&#8217;s relaxation. The frog becomes sleepy and has <\/em><strong><em>less and less energy<\/em><\/strong><em> while the water is getting hotter and hotter. By the time the frog realizes its danger, the water is beginning to boil, and it is <\/em><strong><em>too late<\/em><\/strong><em> to take action. There is neither time nor energy left to do anything. The frog <\/em><strong><em>perishes<\/em><\/strong><em> in the boiling water.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I often ask myself multiple, related questions\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Where are we unable to sense the danger?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Where are we relaxing that we should not?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Where does something feel good that isn\u2019t good at all?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Where is our energy being drained?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Where is it too late to take action?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>How long before we perish?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My mind wanders as I ponder the potential boiling water\u2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we\u2019re ok with incivility\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we\u2019re ok with denigrating tweets\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we\u2019re silent on the put down of any race\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we\u2019re silent on sexual misconduct dependent on party\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we question infanticide in any arena\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we wonder if socialism <em>(which often leads to communism)<\/em> is actually, somehow good\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026 when we\u2019re ok with hypocrisy\u2026 <em>(Note: see the elect on border security, immigration, and the immediate acceptance\/rejection of Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s vs. Justin Fairfax\u2019s accusers)<\/em>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ugh. My heart hurts\u2026 I\u2019m not sure I can wrap my brain around it all\u2026 on all sides\u2026 from both parties\u2026 on all we put up with or are silent to\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We don\u2019t recognize the danger.<\/em><br>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My strong sense is that it\u2019s not one party that\u2019s making this happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I thus have a few questions\u2026 for each of us\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are we accepting \u2014 convincing ourselves that it\u2019s healthy, wise, and good \u2014 that is <em>not <\/em>healthy wise and good?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are we actually entertaining as ok that is not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are we putting up with?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But perhaps the biggest question remains, if we continue in this unhealthy pattern that trips up even the most intelligent among us\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if something huge is at stake?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Will we be able to see?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230; before it&#8217;s too late?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Respectfully\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AR<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve heard the legend of the boiled frog.
