It can be deep, shallow, silly, sentimental, controversial or intense; our goal is to converse respectfully, especially, always of the one who feels differently than we do. In 2019\u2019s America, such can be incredibly difficult; it takes work; it takes intentionality; it takes sincere respect of all people. Such doesn\u2019t make it any lesser of a goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My sense, therefore, is we should talk about impeachment. However, many people are actually <em>not<\/em> talking about impeachment. Why? Perhaps because it\u2019s too argumentative\u2026 or perhaps because too many unanswered questions are in play. With all due respect \u2014 and with the recognition that all respectful opinion is welcome\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What did Pres. Trump do?<\/li><li>When did the idea of impeachment begin?<\/li><li>How many people made up their minds on what Pres. Trump did before the impeachment process ever began?<\/li><li>How many people made up their minds without hearing all the evidence?<\/li><li>Have we heard all the evidence?<\/li><li>Do we need to hear from more who claim to have relevant information?<\/li><li>What\u2019s the basis for the current timetable?<\/li><li>Are those on the left and right being honest and transparent about their basis for the current timetable?<\/li><li>How partisan is the process?<\/li><li>Does that matter?<\/li><li>Is the process fair?<\/li><li>How much has partisanship mattered historically in the impeachment process?<\/li><li>Was the process partisan and\/or fair during Pres. Clinton\u2019s impeachment hearings 21 years ago?<\/li><li>If older, are each of us responding the same or differently than we did 21 years ago?<\/li><li>Is a different response justifiable or no?<\/li><li>Is there any undetected hypocrisy in ourselves?<\/li><li>How much do policy differences play into impeachment opinions?<\/li><li>How much does a soaring economy affect our perspective?<\/li><li>How many people\u2019s opinions are based upon who they voted for in the 2016 election?<\/li><li>How many people\u2019s opinions are based upon Pres. Trump\u2019s personality?<\/li><li>How many people\u2019s opinions are based upon where they get their news?<\/li><li>How limited is our perspective?<\/li><li>How objective is the media?<\/li><li>Does the media have an agenda?<\/li><li>Are there no Republicans who support impeachment?<\/li><li>Are there no Democrats who oppose impeachment?<\/li><li>Is their support or opposition to impeachment based more on evidence or polling data?<\/li><li>Are there Republicans who would support impeachment if they didn\u2019t fear retaliation by Pres. Trump?<\/li><li>Should polling data matter?<\/li><li>How much does the next election matter?<\/li><li>Who is faking objectivity?<\/li><li>Is the media handling this similar to the processes involved with Presidents Nixon and Clinton?<\/li><li>Are we aware that the House has impeached 19 federal officers since 1789, initiating impeachment proceedings 62 times?<\/li><li>Is it relevant that the Washington Post published \u201cThe Campaign to Impeach President Trump Has Begun\u201d on January 20, 2017?<\/li><li>Are there any current questionable activities that were accepted in the Obama and Bush administrations?<\/li><li>Was military aid intentionally withheld from the Ukrainians pending investigation of the Bidens?<\/li><li>When Pres. Trump referred to the Biden\u2019s, was it in reference to the 2016 or 2020 election?<\/li><li>How much military aid was given to Ukraine under previous presidents?<\/li><li>Do Pres. Trump\u2019s activities constitute \u201chigh crimes and misdemeanors\u201d?<\/li><li>What exactly is the definition of \u201chigh crimes and misdemeanors\u201d?<\/li><li>Are all\/some\/or none of Pres. Trump\u2019s activities impeachable?<\/li><li>What will the Articles of Impeachment include?<\/li><li>How do we objectively qualify and quantify \u201cabuse of office\u201d?<\/li><li>If the withholding of evidence from Congress is an impeachable offense, does it matter that Pres. Obama admitted intentionally withholding evidence from Congress in regard to the <br> Fast and Furious\u201d investigation?<\/li><li>Does the motive to damage Pres. Trump politically prior to the 2020 campaign exist?<\/li><li>How does this all affect the 2020 election?<\/li><li>Does Pres. Trump have an organized strategy in all this, or is he rhetorically flying by the seat of his pants (and his Twitter account)?<\/li><li>Does the impartiality of the whistleblower matter?<\/li><li>Does his contact with Rep. Adam Schiff\u2019s office matter, which occurred prior to making his complaint public?<\/li><li>Why did Rep. Schiff wrongly claim there was no prior contact with the whistleblower?<\/li><li>Are the overseas activities of Hunter Biden relevant?<\/li><li>Is a focus on Hunter Biden simply a decoy to defer blame?<\/li><li>How much should Hunter Biden\u2019s character reflect upon Joe?<\/li><li>What is the role of Rudy Giuliani?\u00a0<\/li><li>If it\u2019s unlikely that Pres. Trump will be removed the Senate, what is the purpose of impeachment?<\/li><li>Were Republicans motivated by the same measure when the House impeached Pres. Clinton?<\/li><li>How do we react to Rep. Al Green\u2019s disgust that not one person of color was called upon among the impeachment experts in the House hearings?<\/li><li>Does Michael Bloomberg\u2019s recent entry into the presidential race have anything to do with the current impeachment focus?<\/li><li>Why are Rep. Schiff\u2019s eyes always opened really big?<\/li><li>Why does Rep. Jim Jordan not wear a jacket?<\/li><li>Why does Pres. Trump seemingly taunt Congress, saying this week, \u201cDo it now, fast\u201d?<\/li><li>When Speaker Pelosi said this week, &#8220;Politics is not even a consideration in this,\u201d was she telling the truth?<\/li><li>Does it matter if our elect are telling the truth?<\/li><li>How much is Pres. Trump manipulating the Constitution for his own purposes?<\/li><li>How much is Congress manipulating the Constitution for their own purposes?<\/li><li>What\u2019s next?<\/li><li>If Pres. Trump is removed from office, will Congress support a President Pence?<\/li><li>Will the Supreme Court\u2019s Chief Justice influence the process?<\/li><li>What precedent are we setting for future impeachments?<\/li><li>Does what the public wants matter?<\/li><li>How do we heal?<\/li><li>How should we pray?<\/li><li>Do a majority in the country see how each of us contributes to the divisiveness?<\/li><li>Is the majority silent?<\/li><li>What are we de-emphasizing in order to hold the opinion that we do?<br><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Ugh. Insert sigh here. With all those questions, I get it; it can be exhausting.
