This just isn\u2019t fair!\u00a0 We deserve to be the same!\u00a0 \u201cEquals should be treated equally!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Call it fairness.\u00a0 Call it justice.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s social justice, some would argue.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We live on the same planet.\u00a0 It\u2019s not fair that some have so much \u2014 and others \u2014 yes, us \u2014 have so little…\u00a0 too little, I might add.\u00a0 How can that be justified?\u00a0 How can some stand so smugly by? … even cheering?\u00a0 Cheering,<\/em> I said!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n That\u2019s ridiculous!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Still even when the inequality is so stinkin\u2019 obvious, the wealthy among us actually have the audacity to stand and cheer \u2014 almost as if they are unaware that the rest of us are also in the stands.\u00a0 It\u2019s as if they don\u2019t even care \u2014 like we\u2019re not even in the game.\u00a0 They don\u2019t care about the active discrimination.\u00a0 They don\u2019t care how little we have.\u00a0 They must have no heart.\u00a0 It\u2019s all about them!\u00a0 It\u2019s simply not fair!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Monday night the University of Alabama football team won their 15th NCAA national championship.\u00a0 The (semi-) <\/em>Fighting Irish (based on their performance Monday night) <\/em>claim 11 of their own championships \u2014 same as Michigan\u2019s Wolverines and those tempestuous Trojans of Southern California.\u00a0 But alas, my woeful, beloved Boilermakers \u2014 those prudent young men from Purdue \u2014 have won a grand total of zero.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Zero.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Zero.\u00a0 Zilch.\u00a0 Nada.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And here\u2019s the kicker…<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Because the Crimson Tide, Irish, Trojans, etc. historically fare so well, the best and brightest from the high school ranks prefer them over my precious Purdue.\u00a0 Year after year, the best only get better; and the rest of us?\u00a0 Well, woe is us.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It\u2019s not fair.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So should we change the college football system?\u00a0 Should we regulate it?\u00a0 Should we limit the number of wins or good recruits allowed by Alabama football, UConn women\u2019s basketball, or the talented men from Duke?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Or should we fight harder, recognizing that goal setting and hard work and even adversity are all worth something?\u00a0 Should we actually wrestle with the wisdom embedded within the recognition that we weren\u2019t all created with the same ability, gifting, weaknesses, strengths, work ethic, and blessing? …<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Or do we instead focus on life not being fair?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dare I add:\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait for the day \u2014 that incredible day \u2014 one day, someday, whenever it happens \u2014 when my Boilermakers win the national football championship \u2014 and convincingly smash that Alabama Crimson Tide.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Respectfully,<\/p>\n AR<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It\u2019s not fair!\u00a0 It\u2019s a matter of fairness, and this is not fair!
