Far too wonderful for me…<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Recently I was struck by that phrase.\u00a0 Perhaps you\u2019ve noticed it embedded in a few semi-humble posts.\u00a0 I must admit:\u00a0 the concept is often a little inconsistent with how I think.\u00a0 I mean, I\u2019m not a rocket scientist nor student of microbiology.\u00a0 But I do have 2 B.S.\u2019s and a fairly decent grasp of contemporary culture.\u00a0 The Intramuralist is a pursuer of wisdom.\u00a0 And as a current events observer, I now concede that yes, there is much that is far too wonderful for me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I pondered the meaning of wonder… wonderful…\u00a0 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.\u00a0 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand…\u00a0 stronger than me…\u00a0 so high I cannot reach it…\u00a0 beyond me…\u00a0 lofty.\u00a0 I can’t attain it.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We think of \u201cwonderful\u201d as good.\u00a0 \u201cWonderful,\u201d however, instead equates to the extraordinary \u2014 extraordinary and thus incomprehensible… too difficult to understand.\u00a0 As I survey the news of the day, that could be good.\u00a0 Sometimes tis not…<\/p>\n

\u201cFormer NFL star Junior Seau was found shot to death at his home Wednesday morning in what police said appeared to be a suicide. He was 43.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Seau was well-respected and had young children.\u00a0 He was the founder of the Junior Seau Foundation, established in 1992 for the purposes of educating and empowering young people through the support of child abuse prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, recreational opportunities, anti-juvenile delinquency efforts and complimentary educational programs.\u00a0 And yet yesterday, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his chest.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s incomprehensible to think of what actually drives a person to kill oneself.\u00a0 A life with no hope.\u00a0 Period.\u00a0 It\u2019s grievous.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBuccaneers Sign Paralyzed Ex-Rutgers Football Player LeGrand.\u00a0 Eric LeGrand, the former Rutgers University football player who was paralyzed from the neck down during a 2010 game, was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers\u2019 90- man offseason roster by coach Greg Schiano.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Playing in the NFL was once LeGrand\u2019s dream.\u00a0 The dream was shattered instantaneously.\u00a0 And yet yesterday, one coach had the gracious compassion to reach out in an unprecedented way.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\u2019s incomprehensible to think of how much that had to mean to the former football player.\u00a0 Great love.\u00a0 Unparalleled grace.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And then in what can only be described as a slow news week, I observed the Bin Laden brouhaha, the on-again, off-again, who\u2019s using what for political gain…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s campaigning… Obama\u2019s not campaigning… He\u2019s using Afghanistan as a campaign backdrop… he\u2019s not…<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Geepers.\u00a0 Sorry, but the back-and-forth wears me out.\u00a0 It\u2019s too wonderful for me; it\u2019s hard to discern between fiction, fact, and valid perspective.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The reality is that we live in a country in which politicians are constantly engaged in impression management.\u00a0 They go to great lengths in order to be well-liked by a clear majority of voters.\u00a0 Hence, they use what they can to create the impression they can.\u00a0 Hence, if there\u2019s fault with the Afghan political backdrop, there\u2019s greater fault with the evolution of the system.\u00a0 Impression management is never pure.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Just a few musings this day…\u00a0 an observance of current events…<\/p>\n

Many, which yes, are far too wonderful for me.<\/p>\n
