{"id":2107,"date":"2013-07-24T23:40:38","date_gmt":"2013-07-25T03:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=2107"},"modified":"2013-07-24T23:44:33","modified_gmt":"2013-07-25T03:44:33","slug":"the-king","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=2107","title":{"rendered":"the king"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>He\u2019s here!\u00a0 He\u2019s here!<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>The future king is here!<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Granted, Prince William and Kate Middleton\u2019s baby was initially nameless, but the newborn babe has now been pronounced as none other than Prince George Alexander Louis; note that William\u2019s name went unannounced for one whole week while his father, Charles, actually waited an entire month.\u00a0 Regardless, a king is born!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, this week my youngest teen strolled into my room, and via a manner of not so eloquent words asked, \u201cWhat\u2019s the big deal\u201c about England\u2019s most recent royal birth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>He\u2019s a king!\u00a0 The king has been born!<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>[As originally penned in early 2009&#8230;]<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>People historically clamor for a king.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Romans clamored for the great Cincinnatus.\u00a0 The Sicilians clamored for \u201cthe General,\u201d Giuseppe Garibaldi.\u00a0 And lest you are on the edge of your seats, ready to pounce, thinking I may again address the perceived, first term Obama, Greek-columned, kingly adoration, we should acknowledge that many have been equally guilty with the elections of previous presidents&#8230;\u00a0 <i>\u201cNow that a conservative Christian is in the White House&#8230; now we can finally save America!\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Yes, the king will save us!<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In approximately 1050 B.C., the ground swelling rose to its maximum voice.\u00a0 The people had spiritual leaders, men and women to guide them, helping them see the world rightly and give God credit for his creation, but they didn\u2019t have a \u201cking.\u201d\u00a0<i> \u201cGive us a king to rule us!\u201d<\/i> the people fervently chanted.\u00a0 <i>\u201cIf only we had a king, those hopes would ring true.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The citizens were told that a king could not save them; a king would be ineffective&#8230;\u00a0 incapable.\u00a0 A king could not do what only God can do.\u00a0 We should never put more faith in one man than in the one who created man.\u00a0 But yet, the people continually ignored wisdom.\u00a0 They continued to mandate, <i>\u201cWe want a king so we can be like everyone else!\u201d\u00a0<\/i> Adhering to the wants of the people as opposed to the wisdom of one greater, the leading prophet of the land surrendered to their wishes.\u00a0 Yet he eerily added, <i>\u201cThe day will come when you will cry in desperation because of this king you so much want for yourselves.\u00a0 But don&#8217;t expect God to answer.\u201d\u00a0<\/i> Because their trust was displaced, their prayers were also discarded.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No one man <i>(or woman or even a Hillary)<\/i> can save America.\u00a0 No conservative Christian.\u00a0 No liberal, independent, franchise quarterback, or even global warming aficionado.\u00a0 No man can do what only God can do.\u00a0 So why, as a people, do we continue to look for love in all the wrong places?\u00a0 What makes us clamor for a king?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>God bless you, William and Kate.\u00a0 You\u2019re the closest thing to royalty with whom most of us will ever identify.\u00a0 We loved Diana.\u00a0 She was authentic.\u00a0 She could relate to us, but her death came so suddenly, so tragically.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So c\u2019mon, William and Kate&#8230; raise that child well.\u00a0 Here, then, is to Prince George \u2014 third in line for the royal throne.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We need a king, you know.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; or at least, for some reason, we think we do&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>AR<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He\u2019s here!\u00a0 He\u2019s here!
