{"id":2449,"date":"2013-10-27T08:24:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-27T12:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=2449"},"modified":"2013-10-27T08:30:08","modified_gmt":"2013-10-27T12:30:08","slug":"who-you-work-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=2449","title":{"rendered":"who you work for"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Attractive trait #1:\u00a0 <b>humility.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note that I didn\u2019t say dormancy nor being trampled upon nor squelched into submission.\u00a0 I\u2019m speaking of authentic, genuine, attractive and contagious humility \u2014 an increasingly rare trait&#8230; perhaps even more difficult to cultivate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With all the ongoings of the week \u2014 watching the federal government attempt to administer a colossal, complex policy \u2014 witnessing the realm of reactions, I was reminded of a message I felt we need to send to each of our elect and their staffs&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To the President&#8230; to Congress&#8230; to the Cabinet&#8230; to each of their aides.<\/p>\n<p>To the Democrats&#8230; Republicans&#8230; independents&#8230; and even the colloquially categorized extremists.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We have one humble message for you.\u00a0 You will need humility to hear it; we will attempt to be as humble as possible in how we say it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To the elect&#8230; You keep forgetting this.\u00a0 You keep arrogantly spewing and spouting and thinking you know best.\u00a0 You keep talking past each other.\u00a0 Sometimes you even talk down to one another.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Why the berating?\u00a0 Why the demeaning?\u00a0 Why diminish your own integrity to score some sort of partisan points?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>Rep. Alan Grayson, granted you hail not from my home state, but what would cause you to stoop so low to compare the Tea Party to the Klu Klux Klan this week?\u00a0 What are you thinking?\u00a0 Why are you behaving in such an arrogant way?<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Still such is not what we most need to remind each of you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Again, to the elect&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s your logic?\u00a0 What\u2019s your justification?\u00a0 Why do you use your positions of power to represent only the 1%, 37% or 51%?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Congress, thinking of representing only a limited percentage of people, why would you pass legislation <i>(note:\u00a0 see \u201cCare Act,\u201d arguably \u201caffordable\u201d)<\/i> with <b>zero<\/b> votes from another party?\u00a0 How and why is it appropriate to pass colossal, complex policy that only one party supports \u2014 especially when that policy impacts <b>100%<\/b> of the people?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Still not our message&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With growing calls for Health &amp; Human Services Sec.
