{"id":2835,"date":"2014-01-28T11:32:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-28T16:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=2835"},"modified":"2014-01-28T11:32:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-28T16:32:00","slug":"state-of-the-government-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=2835","title":{"rendered":"state of the government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Fotolia_2999749_S.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2725\" alt=\"sky and columns of supreme court building in washington d.c.\" src=\"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Fotolia_2999749_S.jpg\" width=\"693\" height=\"693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Fotolia_2999749_S.jpg 693w, https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Fotolia_2999749_S-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Fotolia_2999749_S-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 693px) 100vw, 693px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today marks our 5th annual State of the Government address.\u00a0 In our initial analysis, we made the following primary observations:<\/p>\n<p><i>The State of the Government is too partisan.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The State of the Government is too influenced by money.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The State of the Government is too big.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The State of the Government is financially imbalanced.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The State of the Government is too far removed from the Constitution.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allow me first a few brief notes on each state&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Government is too <\/b><b>partisan<\/b><b>.<\/b><i>\u00a0 <\/i>So first just the facts&#8230;\u00a0 House Republicans stymie the President\u2019s major policy initiatives; Senate Democrats stymie the Republicans; the President utilizes Executive Orders to bypass Congress; and each of them complain about the other.\u00a0 So which came first:\u00a0 the House Republicans, Senate Democrats, the President, the chicken, or the egg?\u00a0 The point is that each always blames their partisan behavior on someone else.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Government is too <\/b><b>influenced by money<\/b><b>.<\/b>\u00a0 Again, people blame someone else or a single judicial decision for this issue, focusing on the speck in another while ignoring the log in their own eye.\u00a0 Based on objective research, it\u2019s my conclusion that the moral digression due to money increased exponentially during the Carter administration, when lobbyist restrictions were significantly eased.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Government is too <\/b><b>big<\/b><b>.<\/b>\u00a0 Let\u2019s make this metaphorically simple.\u00a0 Who watches their pennies more:\u00a0 a small business on a tight budget or a massive business with no budget?\u00a0 In 2014 the federal government is expected to spend near $4 trillion \u2014 and they have no budget holding them accountable.\u00a0 There is no way all those pennies are being spent efficiently&#8230; or probably, even counted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Government is <\/b><b>financially imbalanced<\/b><b>.<\/b>\u00a0 Whether monies are spent on war, Obamacare, or wars on Obamacare, the government continues to make no attempt to balance their budget.\u00a0 Any entity with this much deficit spending this long with no repayment plan would cease to exist.\u00a0 However, the elect keep kicking the financial can down the road paved by future generations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Government is too <\/b><b>far removed from the Constitution<\/b><b>.<\/b>\u00a0 <i>\u201cWe the People\u00a0of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0 Our founders desired a country that would be just, internally peaceful, and externally protected.\u00a0 Too many today, though, feel omnisciently justified dictating exactly how all should prosper, how our tranquility is insured, and what a union that\u2019s perfect should be.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So where do we start?\u00a0 Where do we go in order to truly, respectfully find solution for a government that\u2019s broken?\u00a0 Is it by the President enacting more Executive Orders, as some say he will pledge tonight?\u00a0 Or does that only make government more partisan, \u201cmore big,\u201d and \u201cmore-you-get-my-point\u201d?\u00a0 In an interactive November series, Intramuralist readers affirmed that solution begins with the following:\u00a0 term limits and money limits&#8230;<i> limits!<\/i>\u00a0 And next \u2014 and always \u2014 our leaders <i>must embrace respect&#8230; <\/i>for us&#8230; for one another&#8230; for varied opinion&#8230; in public and private&#8230; in all interactions&#8230; cameras on or off.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These past 5 years, the Intramuralist has concluded that while the<i> <\/i>State of the Government has digressed over several decades, until we responsibly address partisanship, special interests, size, spending, and straying from the Constitution, we will be challenged to admit the Union is strong.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe our Union is permanently broken.\u00a0 I do believe, though, that ordinary people need to be more involved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Respectfully,<\/p>\n<p>AR<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today marks our 5th annual State of the Government address.\u00a0 In our initial analysis, we made the following primary observations: The State of the Government is too partisan.
