\"bracket\"<\/a>What\u2019s so maddening about the NCAA Men\u2019s Basketball Tournament?<\/p>\n

Is it the diversity?\u00a0 After all, only in the 2014 bracket will you seem to find…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

… Cavaliers vs. Chanticleers,\u00a0Huskies vs. Hawks,\u00a0and Aztecs vs. Aggies.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not to mention skin color…<\/p>\n

… Bearcats vs. the color Crimson,\u00a0Broncos vs. Orange,\u00a0and Lobos vs. Cardinal (… what\u2019s a \u201clobo\u201d again?).<\/i><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t confuse the color Cardinal with the bird Cardinal, as birds are again well-represented via defending champ, Louisville, and those prominent Jayhawks, Blue Jays, and even Ducks.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s also not forget the nuts (… sorry, Buckeyes).<\/i><\/p>\n

There actually exist multiple commonalities among the teams, especially noting the half dozen included Wildcats.\u00a0 In fact, there exist such a plethora of the animal that they will\u00a0 quickly become an endangered species, eliminating one another when Arizona meets Weber St. and Kansas St. meets Kentucky all in the first round… each<\/em> an untamed feline.\u00a0 Those Wildcats tend to eat their own… just sayin\u2019…<\/p>\n

Speaking of eating their own, evil is again unfortunately alive and well on planet Earth, as Devils hail from both Arizona St. and Duke.\u00a0 Sorry, nothing against those two well-respected educational institutions; the Intramuralist just can\u2019t support evil.<\/p>\n

Sooners and Shockers…<\/p>\n

Colonials and Colonels…<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no wonder it\u2019s hard to know who to root for.<\/p>\n

We might also note that it\u2019s hip these days to broadcast any weather event not easily explainable; hence, we welcome both the Cyclones and Golden Hurricane to this year\u2019s conversation.<\/p>\n

We will see Spartans vs. Blue Hens (… sorry, but the whole hen idea sounds a little weak)<\/i> and Rams vs. Lumberjacks (… who are respectfully taking some time off to play a little basketball).<\/i><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t also miss the inclusion of both Bison and Buffaloes.\u00a0 Is there a difference?<\/em><\/p>\n

Ah, let\u2019s not forget the Billikens, Jaspers, and team from Louisiana-Lafayette.\u00a0 What\u2019s in a name?\u00a0 LOTS… especially if you\u2019re a Ragin\u2019 Cajun.<\/p>\n

Speaking of individuals, there are a handful that stand out that we should at least give a mention… from UCLA\u2019s Wanaah Bail to North Carolina State\u2019s Staats Battle to St. Louie\u2019s Jordair Jett… too bad Wofford\u2019s Indiana Faithfull left the team earlier this year.<\/p>\n

But lest we begin to think the tournament is not an accurate blend of contemporary society, remember that there will also exist jeers and cheers and tears and fears.\u00a0 There will be \u201cone shining moments\u201d and moments that no one wishes would be publicized again.\u00a0 There will be winners and losers, but only one team will win in the end.\u00a0 Some teams will be better than others.\u00a0 Some will simply play better.\u00a0 It\u2019s not a measure of equality.\u00a0 It is just a game.<\/p>\n

Welcome to the madness, friends.\u00a0 Personally, I kind of like those Shockers from Wichita State.\u00a0 I also like the Spartans from East Lansing, Michigan.\u00a0 And oh, yeah… I like Louisiana-Lafayette.\u00a0 I like to say their name.<\/p>\n
