{"id":3112,"date":"2014-04-20T08:24:32","date_gmt":"2014-04-20T12:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=3112"},"modified":"2014-04-20T08:24:32","modified_gmt":"2014-04-20T12:24:32","slug":"the-body","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=3112","title":{"rendered":"the body"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/easter-2014-carrick-groovy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3114 alignleft\" alt=\"easter-2014-carrick-groovy\" src=\"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/easter-2014-carrick-groovy-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I have studied the world\u2019s religions.\u00a0 Granted, I am no scholar, but I have invested extensive, intentional hours researching Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, etc..\u00a0 I must confess:\u00a0 the study is fascinating.\u00a0 Add to that Judaism, the Bah\u00e1&#8217;\u00ed Faith, New Age Movement, and atheism, which also serves as a religion for some.<\/p>\n<p>Amidst the years of study, there is one aspect that continually causes me the greatest pause&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha, meaning &#8220;the awakened one&#8221; and the leader of the Buddhist faith, died somewhere between 400-483 B.C. <i>(the exact timing of his death is disputed).<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Muhammad, the founder of Islam, considered by Muslims as the last prophet of God, died in June 632 A.D.<\/p>\n<p>Bah\u00e1&#8217;u&#8217;ll\u00e1h, the founder of the Bah\u00e1&#8217;\u00ed Faith, died in May of 1892.<\/p>\n<p>Hinduism has no identified single founder&#8230; neither does Judaism, the New Age Movement, nor atheism.<\/p>\n<p>The point is that there is no religion other than Christianity that claims a resurrected leader.\u00a0 Every other religion either boasts a leader whose body has decayed in some sort of tomb \u2014 or has no leader, thus existing as an established system of organized, human-created concepts.\u00a0 There is no disrespect in that statement; rather, it\u2019s a statement of fact.\u00a0 It is therefore my sense that the reason so many have worked so hard for centuries to discredit the resurrection is because it\u2019s the one aspect that no other religion can ever claim.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that with the exception of atheism, all of the religions mentioned above agree that Jesus Christ was a real person who walked this planet.\u00a0 Most all also acknowledge that Jesus was a wise man who had a special relationship with God. \u00a0 Their response to the resurrection?\u00a0 Mostly silence, as the resurrection has not \u2014 and cannot \u2014 be disproved.\u00a0 Jesus appeared to many after his death, and his body was never found.<\/p>\n<p>On this Easter, let me offer an exchange from a respected author, Josh McDowell, whose original goal was to actually disprove the validity of the Christian faith.\u00a0 He worked tirelessly to refute the life and teachings of Jesus Christ&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><i>A student at the University of Uruguay said to me. &#8220;Professor McDowell, why can&#8217;t you refute Christianity?&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;For a very simple reason,&#8221; I answered. &#8220;I am not able to explain away an event in history \u2014 the resurrection of Jesus Christ.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Please note that the Intramuralist will always advocate respect for each person\u2019s faith and point of view.\u00a0 We are each entitled to that.\u00a0 Let me also point out, however, that respect does not equate to accepting as equally true.<\/p>\n<p>Respectfully&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>AR<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have studied the world\u2019s religions.\u00a0 Granted, I am no scholar, but I have invested extensive, intentional hours researching Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, etc..\u00a0 I must confess:\u00a0 the study is fascinating.\u00a0 Add to that Judaism, the Bah\u00e1&#8217;\u00ed Faith, New Age Movement, and atheism, which also serves as a religion for some.
