{"id":3173,"date":"2014-05-06T06:07:11","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T10:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=3173"},"modified":"2014-05-06T06:07:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-06T10:07:11","slug":"ignorance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/?p=3173","title":{"rendered":"ignorance?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3174 alignleft\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial; cursor: default; height: auto; max-width: 474px; vertical-align: middle; border-width: 0px;\" alt=\"img24238608\" src=\"https:\/\/intramuralist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/img24238608-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With current event monitors focused sharply last week on Sterling, Sharpton, and new Benghazi information <i>(sigh),<\/i> there was this small, perhaps trivial incident that flew somewhat under society\u2019s radar.\u00a0 Reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Jameis Winston, a 20 year old soon-to-be Florida State sophomore, walked out of a Publix grocery store with $32.72 worth of crawfish and crab legs that he never paid for.<\/p>\n<p>Expectedly, social media and sports reporters experienced a bit of an editorial heyday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cJust a shellfish act on Jameis Winston&#8217;s part.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cAt least be classy enough to go for the Lobster tail&#8230;\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Or my personal favorite:<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cReally wonder about Jameis Winston&#8217;s decision making. This entire episode was high-bisque, low reward.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>I must subtly, gleefully acknowledge that sarcasm is sometimes simply too tempting to sidestep.<\/p>\n<p>But as the Intramuralist resists the common-to-man temptation, I was struck by Winston\u2019s immediate apology.\u00a0 Remember that this young man stands to net millions of dollars in the immediate future, as he\u2019s projected as nothing less than a top &#8212; or <i>the<\/i> top &#8212; 2015 NFL draft pick.\u00a0 Hence, image is everything.\u00a0 A positive public image equates to millions in potential endorsements.\u00a0 Note here are excerpts from his contrition&#8230; granted, only stated after caught:<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cAs reported in the news, last night I received an adult civil citation for petit theft fr<\/i><i>om a local supermarket. I went to the supermarket with the intent to purchase dinner but made a terrible mistake for which I\u2019m taking full responsibility. <\/i><b><i>In a moment of youthful ignorance,<\/i><\/b><i> I walked out of the store without paying for one of my items.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#8230; I make no excuses for my actions and will learn and grow from this unfortunate situation.
