\"proverbs1\"<\/a>As my family and I spent significant time resting this past Memorial Day weekend, I found myself reflecting upon some ancient proverbs, wondering, no less, if we still hold them to be true.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Do we honor them?\u00a0 … believe in them?\u00a0 … disagree with them?\u00a0 … or ignore them \u2014 not wanting to acknowledge any potential truth?\u00a0 I wonder…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A faithful man will be richly blessed…<\/i><\/p>\n

A kindhearted woman gains respect…<\/i><\/p>\n

A generous man will prosper…<\/i><\/p>\n

Evil men do not understand justice…<\/i><\/p>\n

A greedy man stirs up dissension…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Every fool is quick to quarrel…<\/i><\/p>\n

A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions…<\/i><\/p>\n

A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult…<\/i><\/p>\n

A fool gives full vent to his anger…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The adulteress gives not thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Do not be wise in your own eyes…<\/i><\/p>\n

Do not forsake wisdom…<\/i><\/p>\n

Do not withhold good from those who need it…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A man\u2019s pride brings him low…<\/i><\/p>\n

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom…<\/i><\/p>\n

Humility comes before honor…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wisdom is found in those who take advice…<\/i><\/p>\n

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty…<\/i><\/p>\n

He who answers before listening \u2014 that is his folly and his shame…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here are six things God hates, and one more that he loathes with a passion:\u00a0 eyes that are arrogant, a tongue that lies, hands that murder the innocent, a heart that hatches evil plots, feet that race down a wicked track, a mouth that lies under oath, a troublemaker in the family…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He who trusts in himself is a fool…<\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let me say it again: \u00a0do we honor these proverbs?\u00a0 … believe in them?\u00a0 … disagree with them?\u00a0 … or ignore them \u2014 not wanting to acknowledge any potential truth?<\/p>\n

I wonder…<\/p>\n
