JT:\u00a0 \u201cMrs. Obama influencing my school lunch choices… Justin Bieber getting caught again (snicker, snicker)… and Germany kicking the crap out of Brazil in the World Cup.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cThey\u2019re overhyped.\u00a0 So many people are stupid in politics, but we elect stupid people.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201c\u2018Stupid\u2019 isn\u2019t a very respectful word.\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cYeah, but people aren\u2019t very respectful in politics.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cTell me how do you see that.\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cThey\u2019re so one-sided, and they can\u2019t handle anything but having their own way on an issue.\u00a0 No one\u2019s willing to compromise.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cHow could we fix this?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cQuit electing stupid people.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cWhy do you think we keep electing these kind of people?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cBecause they\u2019re good communicators and they make you think they\u2019ll do something when they really won\u2019t.\u00a0 Some of them are lying; others just aren\u2019t really focused or they\u2019re unable to work with other people.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cWhy do you think they\u2019re unable to work with others?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cBecause some of them come from a background where they never have to work with other people.\u00a0 Like those who are lawyers — they\u2019re used to fighting everyone to get a certain result — to convince everyone in the room and get them to agree with their opinion.\u00a0 Lawyers don\u2019t practice how to compromise or work with anyone else.\u00a0 They are better at defending opinions than running a country.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cCould you run the country?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cNo.\u00a0 Too much work.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cSo who\u2019s the ideal candidate to run a country?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cSomeone who comes from a background that knows how to manage people and handle a budget.\u00a0 Someone who knows how to run a big company.\u00a0 Someone who\u2019s not whiny.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cWhy not whiny?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cIf the President is whiny, he\u2019ll be like the whiny people in the world.\u00a0 We don\u2019t need more whiny people.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cWhat about how relatable the President is?\u00a0 How important is it that to you?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cLike social media?\u00a0 In some ways he needs to relate to us, but that\u2019s not the most important thing.\u00a0 Just because people think they can relate to you doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re doing a good job.\u00a0 Every leader has supporters.\u00a0 They need to lead well regardless of how well they relate — regardless of whether people like or dislike you.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cIs there anything else you\u2019d like to say to today\u2019s readers?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 [grin] \u201cI\u2019m available for babysitting.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

AR:\u00a0 \u201cIs babysitting \u2018too much work\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

JT:\u00a0 \u201cNo.\u00a0 Kids are fun.\u00a0 It\u2019s adults who are sometimes whiny.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
