Let\u2019s face it. This election season has been ugly and trying and nauseating and any-other-yukky-word-you-really-want-to-insert-here. Woe to our teens and \u2018tweeners\u2019 who are studying American government for the first time. (And I’m sure\u00a0our respected teachers are letting them know this is in no way<\/strong> the norm\u2026)<\/em><\/p>\n

Due then to the current, undesired challenge of being seemingly far harder to focus on what\u2019s good and true and right, I thought it might be more uplifting to intentionally redirect our focus.<\/p>\n

Thus\u2026 50 things I\u2019m thankful this election season\u2026<\/p>\n

  1. Friends<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. Family<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. The fall changing of the leaves<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. The Intramuralist & our diverse\u00a0audience<\/em><\/li>\n
  5. Authentic, deep communication<\/em><\/li>\n
  6. Justin Timberlake\u2019s \u201cCan\u2019t Stop the Feeling\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n
  7. \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n
  8. Clinton and Trump singing \u201cNow I\u2019ve Had the Time of My Life\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n
  9. Great candidates\u2019 faces for caricatures<\/em><\/li>\n
  10. The fact that this election season will actually come to an end<\/em><\/li>\n
  11. The ability to be in touch with friends via Facebook<\/em><\/li>\n
  12. Friends who refuse to rant and rave<\/em><\/li>\n
  13. Friends who DO rant and rave \u2014 but know the beauty of grace, apology, and forgiveness<\/em><\/li>\n
  14. God\u2019s mercy<\/em><\/li>\n
  15. America the Beautiful<\/em><\/li>\n
  16. Disneyland<\/em><\/li>\n
  17. The Cubs in the playoffs<\/em><\/li>\n
  18. The NFL and fantasy football (even though my fantasy team stinks)<\/em><\/li>\n
  19. Common ground<\/em><\/li>\n
  20. Technology<\/em><\/li>\n
  21. The fact that my kids keep in touch via that technology<\/em><\/li>\n
  22. Respectful dialogue<\/em><\/li>\n
  23. Differing opinion<\/em><\/li>\n
  24. Banter that leads to growth<\/em><\/li>\n
  25. The fact that I\u2019m not alone in people who can\u2019t stand pumpkin<\/em><\/li>\n
  26. Charlie Brown<\/em><\/li>\n
  27. The first Christmas\/Hanukkah\/holiday TV ad (seen on Tuesday)<\/em><\/li>\n
  28. Oooooh\u2026 that new show: \u201cDesignated Survivor\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n
  29. College football<\/em><\/li>\n
  30. A new coach <\/em><\/li>\n
  31. Cooler temperatures<\/em><\/li>\n
  32. Cooler tempers<\/em><\/li>\n
  33. Unbiased news<\/em><\/li>\n
  34. Being able to discern unbiased news<\/em><\/li>\n
  35. RealClearPolitics.com<\/em><\/li>\n
  36. Listening without judgment<\/i><\/li>\n
  37. Friends who would never trump (LOL) political position over relationship<\/em><\/li>\n
  38. Getting to the bottom line<\/em><\/li>\n
  39. Solution<\/em><\/li>\n
  40. Walking my dog<\/em><\/li>\n
  41. Puppy posts<\/em><\/li>\n
  42. Funky hair hidden under helmets<\/em><\/li>\n
  43. Avocado toast<\/em><\/li>\n
  44. \u201cIn God We Trust\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n
  45. The meaning behind the Statue of Liberty<\/em><\/li>\n
  46. Individual liberty<\/em><\/li>\n
  47. The high school girls\u2019 soccer team doing great<\/em><\/li>\n
  48. My special needs son\u2019s weekly cooking show<\/em><\/li>\n
  49. Being willing and humble enough to still grow as an adult<\/em><\/li>\n
  50. And… regardless of what happens on November 8th, regardless of what anyone says, there will be a peaceful transfer of power on January 20th.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Desiring to always encourage a focus on what\u2019s good and true and right\u2026 regardless of the season.<\/p>\n
