You know the ones\u2026<\/p>\n

First\u2026 maybe my favorite\u2026<\/p>\n

He was an adventure-seeking youth\u2026
\n\u2026 talented and professionally skilled.
\nAt a young age, he was ready to leave home and lead others.
\nGranted, he grew up unaware of his origins, but his life changed forever, as he persevered through family tragedy.
\nHe would then embark on an unprecedented journey.\u2028He underwent extensive training and mentoring.
\nHe began to lead others well \u2014 a sensitive leader\u2026 unquestionably instrumental\u2026
\nHe also had a solid alliance.\u2028Granted, he had to battle many \u2014 and many of those came at a significant cost.
\nHe continued, however, to persevere.
\nHe did not shy from conflict nor temptation \u2014 and successfully overcame both.
\nHis reputation soon became heroic.
\nMany even began to worship him, believing he would somehow save them. And perhaps, for some, he actually did.
\nHe fought for the people\u2026 with the people\u2026 by the people.
\nHe was one of us.<\/p>\n

The second one\u2026<\/p>\n

He was notably different\u2026 darker, one might say\u2026 maybe a longshot.
\nHe believe he was chosen \u2014 maybe the chosen one.<\/em>
\nIt was sometimes hard to see any heart.
\nIn fact, some believed he was more machine than man\u2026
\n\u2026 twisted and evil.
\nWhen his talents first became noticeable, he had to choose between leading for good \u2014 or leading for bad.
\nPower undoubtedly corrupted him.
\nHe quit serving the people.
\nThus, many were afraid of him \u2014 even those closest to him\u2026 if there was anyone close.
\nI would guess he had few friends.\u2028He did have children \u2014 in which we saw a glimpse of his heart \u2014 but the time was fleeting at best.\u2028He led most through intimidation and the instilling of fear.
\nHe had no patience for opposing opinion or insubordination.
\nHe had a distinct look to him, although his suit always seemed to augment his diminished strength and vitality.
\nFor some reason, he seemed ever tormented inside\u2026 even if he faked it in his plethora of public interactions.<\/p>\n

Maybe I\u2019m wrong here, but my sense is we are so narrow in our view. We look at pundits and politicians, names and nominees \u2014 and feel justified in placing them firmly in solely one of the above two categories\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026 as if one is all evil and one is all good.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s a problem.<\/p>\n

The above descriptions are fictional.<\/p>\n

As described by \u201cWookiepedia: The Star Wars Wiki\u201d, the above depicts Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader\u2026 yes, fictional characters.<\/p>\n

Friends, we are omitting wisdom when we equate real life people and public personalities with fiction.<\/p>\n

There is only one Luke \u2014 and only one Vader.<\/p>\n

And neither one is real.<\/p>\n
