I love how often the children see what we cannot\u2026<\/p>\n
I love their passion\u2026
\n\u2026 their enthusiasm\u2026
\n\u2026 their unscripted response\u2026<\/p>\n
I love their curiosity\u2026
\n\u2026 their bravery\u2026
\n\u2026 their uncanny moxy\u2026<\/p>\n
I love their willingness to act\u2026
\n\u2026 and their equal willingness to ask questions \u2014 even those seemingly \u201cstupid\u201d ones, that adults aren\u2019t always courageous enough to ask.<\/p>\n
Maybe that\u2019s what I love most about children; they are not adults.<\/p>\n
We allow things to get in the way.<\/p>\n
To get in the way of what?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u2026 of staying humble\u2026 We typically each love only a selected some.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n So what actually gets in the way?<\/em><\/p>\n What keeps us from staying humble, doing what\u2019s right, and loving all others?<\/em><\/p>\n Lots…<\/strong>\u00a0understandably and unfortunately\u2026<\/p>\n Hurt. Sometimes intelligence, too.<\/p>\n As we\u2019ve recently witnessed teens and tweens leading us in both prayer and peaceful demonstration, I keep thinking about how much each of us could learn from them if we, too, came together, humbly, worked across avenues and aisles, and committed to loving and listening to all others well.<\/p>\n Remember, too, therefore, who it actually is that leads the wolf, lion, and lamb well\u2026<\/p>\n \u201cThe wolf will live with the lamb,<\/em> A child will lead them\u2026 the innocence of a child shall lead\u2026 no wolf nor goat nor lion\u2026<\/p>\n They do not teach the wolf to eat the lamb nor the lion to devour the yearling. They instead teach them all how to lie down and work together.<\/p>\n Respectfully\u2026 humbly, too… I love how often the children see what we cannot\u2026 I love their passion\u2026 \u2026 their enthusiasm\u2026 \u2026 their unscripted response\u2026 I love their curiosity\u2026 \u2026 their bravery\u2026 \u2026 their uncanny moxy\u2026 I love their willingness to act\u2026 \u2026 and their equal willingness to ask questions \u2014 even those seemingly \u201cstupid\u201d ones, that adults aren\u2019t … <\/p>\n
\n\u2026 of doing what\u2019s right\u2026
\n\u2026 of loving all others well.<\/p>\n
\nDisappointment.
\nA lack of forgiveness.
\nBitterness.
\nAnd anger.<\/p>\n
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the leopard will lie down with the goat,<\/em>
\nthe calf and the lion and the yearling together;<\/em>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and a little child will lead them.<\/em>

\nThe cow will feed with the bear,<\/em>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0their young will lie down together,<\/em>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and the lion will eat straw like the ox.<\/em>

\nThe infant will play near the cobra\u2019s den,<\/em>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and the young child will put its hand into the viper\u2019s nest.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
